Service Scope and Limitations

This document defines the scope, nature, AI explanation allowance, progress-analysis conditions, and limitations of the services provided through the FencingMonitor Service.

1. Purpose of This Document

  1. 1.1This document defines the scope, nature, AI explanation allowance, progress-analysis conditions, and limitations of the services provided through the FencingMonitor Service.
  2. 1.2Its purpose is to clarify what the Service includes, what the Service does not include, and the conditions under which the Service operates.
  3. 1.3This document forms an integral part of the FencingMonitor Terms and Policies and applies to all users of the Service.

2. Nature of the Service

  1. 2.1FencingMonitor provides a digital analytical service based on computational processing of user-submitted video material.
  2. 2.2The Service may include video processing, biomechanical and postural measurement, structured analytical reports, and AI-assisted explanations of measurable elements.
  3. 2.3AI-assisted explanations are intended to translate measured biomechanical states into clearer user-facing language; they do not replace the underlying computational analysis.
  4. 2.4The Service is analytical and informational in nature.
  5. 2.5FencingMonitor does not provide competitive outcomes, sporting guarantees, refereeing decisions, arbitration services, judgments of priority or right-of-way, predictions of match outcomes, tactical prescriptions, or coaching instructions.
  6. 2.6FencingMonitor Video Analyses are supplied through one-time video-analysis packs. FencingMonitor does not offer recurring subscriptions, recurring billing, or automatic renewals for these packs.
  7. 2.7Unused purchased Video Analyses do not expire. They are service entitlements within the applicable package allowance and are not credits, a wallet, a prepaid monetary balance, or stored value.

3. Scope of Analysis

  1. 3.1All analyses performed by FencingMonitor are video-based, limited strictly to the content of the uploaded file, and dependent on the technical quality of the recording.
  2. 3.2The analysis focuses on measurable movement characteristics including posture and alignment, timing and coordination, distance management, movement regularity and repeatability, and biomechanical parameters extracted through pose estimation.
  3. 3.3Interpretive conclusions are constrained by the measurable video data and the Service’s predefined analytical framework. The Service does not infer from the video unobserved personal characteristics, health status, psychological state, talent, competitive level, potential, eligibility, or future performance.
  4. 3.4Available report types may depend on the selected product pack, analysis context, video eligibility, and active service configuration.

4. AI Explanation Requests

  1. 4.1Each purchased video includes up to 60 AI explanation requests, unless a different allowance is expressly stated in the selected product pack.
  2. 4.2An AI explanation request may include a report explanation, follow-up answer, simplified explanation, technical explanation, progress-related view, versus or comparative view, alternative formulation, or regenerated AI interpretation.
  3. 4.3FencingMonitor does not provide unlimited conversational AI access, unlimited regeneration, or unrestricted repeated reinterpretation of the same material.
  4. 4.4AI explanation requests are counted when a new AI-generated response is requested or generated according to the active service workflow.
  5. 4.5Viewing previously available content may not require a new AI explanation request where technically supported, but the Service does not guarantee permanent storage or unlimited redisplay of every generated explanation.

5. Progress and Longitudinal Analysis

  1. 5.1Progress or longitudinal analysis requires at least 5 eligible videos for the selected athlete or analysis context.
  2. 5.2This minimum exists because progress analysis depends on comparing movement tendencies across multiple recordings and cannot be meaningfully generated from too few videos.
  3. 5.3Changing the selected set of videos, the chronological order, the athlete, the context, or the report type may create a new analysis context and may consume additional AI explanation requests or analysis capacity according to the product configuration.
  4. 5.4FencingMonitor may refuse or disable progress-related views where fewer than 5 eligible videos are available or where video quality prevents meaningful comparison.

6. Technical Limitations

  1. 6.1The accuracy and completeness of the analysis depend on the technical characteristics of the uploaded video.
  2. 6.2Important factors include camera position and stability, recording distance and angle, video resolution and frame rate, lighting conditions, and visibility of the athlete’s body and weapon.
  3. 6.3Users must follow the Video Recording Guide published on the Service website.
  4. 6.4Minimum Recording Conditions are required for processing eligibility or to avoid justified technical refusal under the service workflow in effect.
  5. 6.5Recommended Recording Conditions improve reliability, completeness, or interpretability without necessarily operating as strict acceptance criteria.
  6. 6.6Videos that do not meet minimum technical conditions may result in reduced analytical accuracy, partial analysis, inability to generate certain metrics, or justified technical refusal.
  7. 6.7User-side technical deficiencies in an uploaded video do not by themselves establish a Provider-side malfunction. Where no valid analytical output is produced, the affected Video Analysis is not treated as consumed after verification, subject to technical review and the applicable product logic.

7. Methodological Limitations

  1. 7.1FencingMonitor performs intrinsic movement analysis based on measurable motion characteristics.
  2. 7.2The Service analyzes biomechanical states derived from video and evaluates movement structure and dynamics. It does not infer athlete intention, psychological state, motivation, or other unobservable personal characteristics. Action labels or offensive/defensive contexts describe observed or model-defined movement context, not mental or tactical intent.
  3. 7.3Unless explicitly designed for comparative analysis, the Service does not compare athletes against one another.
  4. 7.4Results may not be transferable to other opponents, different competition contexts, or different environmental conditions.

8. Interpretative Limitations

  1. 8.1Measured values produced by the Service are computational measurements subject to the technical and methodological limitations described here. Interpretive outputs are analytical interpretations, not final conclusions or authoritative determinations.
  2. 8.2Outputs should not be interpreted as professional coaching advice, medical advice, legal advice, or official sporting judgment.
  3. 8.3Any interpretation, training decision, or application of information remains the sole responsibility of the user, athlete, coach, or sports organization.
  4. 8.4Outputs must not be used as an automated, sole, or determinative basis to classify or categorize an athlete as a person, or to rank, select, exclude, sanction, pressure, determine eligibility, or make other significant decisions about an athlete, especially a minor. Metric-level and action-level outputs must not be converted into person-level classifications.
  5. 8.5Where outputs concern a minor, any interpretation or practical use must be reviewed by a responsible parent, guardian, qualified coach, or appropriate professional who can consider the minor’s age, maturity, health, training environment, and safety.

9. No Arbitration or Competition Use

  1. 9.1FencingMonitor is not designed for official competition use.
  2. 9.2The Service does not provide refereeing support, official judging, arbitration services, rule enforcement, or official competition determinations.
  3. 9.3FencingMonitor reports and outputs are not intended to serve as official evidence in protests, appeals, disciplinary procedures, arbitration proceedings, or comparable official adjudicative contexts.
  4. 9.4Any such use occurs solely at the discretion and responsibility of the party submitting the material.
  5. 9.5The Provider does not represent reports or outputs as authoritative proof in any such context.

10. AI Usage and Responsibility

  1. 10.1Artificial intelligence systems are used within the Service to process video data, organize analytical information, and assist in generating explanatory text.
  2. 10.2AI outputs are constrained by input quality, may vary depending on recording conditions, and reflect computational models and predefined explanatory frameworks.
  3. 10.3The AI system functions as a structured analytical translation layer between measurable biomechanical states and user-facing explanations.
  4. 10.4The default AI explanation layer does not generate coaching theories or training strategies and must not be treated as an unlimited general-purpose AI assistant.
  5. 10.5AI-assisted explanations must be interpreted with appropriate human and professional judgment.
  6. 10.6AI-assisted explanations may be inaccurate, incomplete, inconsistent, or unsuitable for a specific athlete or context, and users must verify important interpretations before relying on them.
  7. 10.7The Service does not guarantee error-free AI explanations, successful correction, safe training outcomes, injury prevention, improved performance, competition success, ranking improvement, or compatibility with every coaching method.
  8. 10.8A user may lawfully copy their own FencingMonitor report into an external AI service of their choice for broader discussion. The external service and its responses are independent of FencingMonitor, are not FencingMonitor outputs, and remain subject to the user’s responsibility for the data shared and the external service’s terms and privacy practices.

11. Access, Regeneration, and Storage Limits

  1. 11.1The Service may store, display, regenerate, or make available outputs according to the active product configuration and technical implementation in effect.
  2. 11.2Unless expressly stated otherwise, FencingMonitor does not guarantee indefinite storage of uploaded videos, generated reports, AI explanations, follow-up answers, or every intermediate analytical state.
  3. 11.3Regenerating, reformulating, or requesting alternative explanations may consume AI explanation requests even when based on the same uploaded video or report.
  4. 11.4The Provider may apply technical limits, counters, access controls, rate limits, or anti-abuse measures to protect service integrity and economic sustainability.

12. Model Evolution and Analytical Updates

  1. 12.1The analytical framework, computational models, detection systems, and explanatory structures used by the Service may evolve over time as part of normal platform development.
  2. 12.2Such updates may include adjustment of measurement thresholds, refinement of biomechanical interpretation logic, improvements to motion detection algorithms, or structural reorganization of reports.
  3. 12.3These updates do not invalidate prior analyses.
  4. 12.4Previously generated reports reflect the analytical framework in effect at the time of processing.
  5. 12.5The Provider is not obligated to recalculate, reprocess, or reinterpret prior reports retroactively unless expressly stated in a specific product offer.

13. Service Delivery and Completion

  1. 13.1Execution of the Service begins when computational resources are allocated or committed following a user request for analysis or AI-generated explanation.
  2. 13.2This may occur when the user uploads video material, initiates analysis, triggers processing, requests an explanation, asks a follow-up question, requests a progress view, or otherwise uses a paid, pack-related, or allowance-related feature.
  3. 13.3For Provider-side service-status purposes, a Video Analysis is completed only when processing has finished and a valid analytical report has been generated or made available according to the product model in effect. An AI explanation request is completed when a valid AI-generated explanation or other applicable explanatory response has been generated or made available.
  4. 13.4A justified technical refusal or processing failure does not constitute completion of a Video Analysis and does not, by itself, consume the affected Video Analysis where no valid analytical output was produced.
  5. 13.5The Service provides a defined digital analysis process and corresponding software-generated outputs; it does not guarantee a particular sporting, training, competitive, or other outcome.
  6. 13.6Dissatisfaction with conclusions or analytical interpretations does not by itself establish non-delivery or technical failure where a valid analytical output has been generated or made available.

14. Technical Failure and Service Remedies

  1. 14.1Failure to meet clearly communicated technical video requirements does not by itself establish a Provider-side malfunction. However, where no valid analytical output is produced, the affected Video Analysis is not treated as consumed after verification.
  2. 14.2Technical impossibility to perform an analysis may support reprocessing, restoration of the affected Video Analysis or AI explanation allowance, or another appropriate service remedy according to the applicable policy and product logic.
  3. 14.3Because an automated request does not always identify which processing attempt failed to produce a valid analytical output, restoration may require a user request and technical verification by the Provider.
  4. 14.4Disagreement with analytical conclusions or wording does not by itself establish a defect, non-delivery, or technical failure after a valid analysis or AI explanation has been generated or made available.
  5. 14.5Reaching, consuming, or exhausting the included AI explanation request allowance does not by itself establish non-delivery, malfunction, or non-conformity if the purchased service was otherwise made available according to its description.
  6. 14.6Technical reprocessing or restoration of a Video Analysis is handled by FencingMonitor. Transaction refund requests are handled by Paddle as authorised reseller and Merchant of Record, in accordance with the FencingMonitor Refund Policy, the Paddle Buyer Terms, the Paddle Refund Policy, and mandatory law. Buyers may contact Paddle Buyer Support. These rules do not limit mandatory consumer rights.

15. User Acknowledgment

  1. 15.1Use of the Service is subject to this Service Scope and Limitations document. Where an applicable workflow requires express acceptance, the user must be given access to this document and accept it before proceeding.
  2. 15.2Users are responsible for reviewing the defined nature and boundaries of the Service before using analytical information or applying it in practice.
  3. 15.3The user acknowledges that the Service includes usage limits, including the AI explanation request allowance described in this document and in the selected product offer.

16. Relationship to Other Documents

  1. 16.1This document must be read together with the Terms and Conditions, Privacy Policy, Refund Policy, AI Disclaimer, Video Recording Guide, Products and Pricing page, and Acceptable Use Policy.
  2. 16.2These documents collectively define the legal, technical, commercial, and operational framework governing the FencingMonitor Service.
  3. 16.3On matters of actual service scope, methodological reach, technical limitation boundaries, AI explanation allowance, progress-analysis eligibility, interpretative limits, and the meaning of delivery, this document governs within its subject-matter domain.
