This AI Disclaimer explains the nature, capabilities, and limitations of the artificial intelligence systems used by the FencingMonitor Service.

1. Purpose and Function of This Disclaimer

  1. 1.1This AI Disclaimer explains the nature, capabilities, and limitations of the artificial intelligence systems used by the FencingMonitor Service.
  2. 1.2Its purpose is to make clear that outputs generated by the Service are analytical interpretations produced by computational systems and do not constitute authoritative determinations of real-world events.
  3. 1.3This document forms part of the FencingMonitor legal and operational framework and must be read together with the Terms and Conditions, Refund Policy, Privacy Policy, Acceptable Use Policy, Service Scope and Limitations, Video Recording Guide, and other applicable documents.
  4. 1.4This document is explanatory and cautionary. It does not replace the Terms and Conditions, create a separate refund regime, or establish a standalone liability framework.

2. Nature of the AI Systems

  1. 2.1The Service uses automated computational systems that may include artificial intelligence models, machine learning algorithms, motion-analysis pipelines, pose-estimation systems, biomechanical modeling tools, rule-based interpretation layers, and related processing components.
  2. 2.2These systems process user-submitted content to generate analytical outputs describing measurable or model-inferred characteristics of movement. They do not classify or categorize the athlete as a person.
  3. 2.3AI-generated outputs are produced through computational interpretation of available input data and are not equivalent to direct human observation of reality itself.
  4. 2.4The AI layer is intended to explain FencingMonitor analytical outputs generated from uploaded videos and related metrics.
  5. 2.5The Service is not provided as general-purpose conversational AI access and does not include open-ended or unlimited access to an AI assistant.

3. Probabilistic and Non-Definitive Nature of Outputs

  1. 3.1AI-generated interpretations and automated action or metric-state classification layers may involve approximations, action- or metric-state classification errors, incomplete interpretations, detection inaccuracies, unstable metric-state classifications, and variation across processing conditions.
  2. 3.2The Service may generate false positives, false negatives, misclassification of detected actions or metric states, incomplete detections, analytically plausible but incorrect interpretations, or outputs that later appear inconsistent with human review.
  3. 3.3Outputs may vary depending on video quality, camera angle, frame rate, lighting, partial visibility, motion blur, occlusion of body segments or weapon, compression artifacts, and technical characteristics of the uploaded file.
  4. 3.4AI outputs must not be interpreted as definitive representations of reality, objective ground truth, or authoritative records of what objectively happened in a sporting exchange.

4. Video-Dependent Analysis and Input Sensitivity

  1. 4.1FencingMonitor analysis relies substantially on visual information extracted from uploaded video recordings.
  2. 4.2The reliability, completeness, and interpretability of the analysis depend significantly on the technical and practical quality of the uploaded input.
  3. 4.3Users must follow the Video Recording Guide published for the Service.
  4. 4.4If the uploaded video does not meet recommended or minimum recording conditions, the system may produce incomplete analysis, reduced-quality measurements, uncertain interpretations, technically limited outputs, or justified technical refusal.
  5. 4.5Variation caused by input quality, incomplete detection, partial visibility, or disagreement with a human interpretation does not by itself establish a defect in the AI layer or a malfunction of the Service.

5. Analytical Purpose Only

  1. 5.1The Service provides analytical tools intended to support analysis of measured movement, motion interpretation, biomechanical understanding, and interpretation of performance-related data.
  2. 5.2Outputs generated by the Service are informational and analytical in nature.
  3. 5.3They are intended to support user interpretation, not to replace human judgment, coaching judgment, institutional judgment, or official sporting judgment.
  4. 5.4Within FencingMonitor, “Diagnosis” means a software-assigned metric state based on measured or computed movement data. It is not a medical diagnosis, does not classify the athlete as a person, and does not by itself constitute a technical, tactical, strategic, medical, or human verdict.

6. No Refereeing, Adjudication, or Official Decision-Making

  1. 6.1The Service does not provide refereeing, judging, adjudication, disciplinary assessment, or official competition-decision services.
  2. 6.2Any action detection, fencing-action or metric-state classification, interpretation, or explanatory output produced by the Service represents an analytical model output and does not constitute an official determination of fencing actions.
  3. 6.3AI-generated fencing-action or metric-state classifications may differ from referee decisions, athlete perception, coach interpretation, competition outcomes, or later human review.
  4. 6.4Such differences do not by themselves constitute a defect of the Service.
  5. 6.5The Provider does not represent AI outputs as official evidence, official referee determinations, authoritative proof, or suitable formal evidence for protests, appeals, disciplinary matters, arbitration proceedings, or comparable official decision-making contexts.

7. No Medical, Safety, Legal, or Professional Advice

  1. 7.1Outputs generated by the Service do not constitute coaching instructions, training prescriptions, medical advice, rehabilitation advice, injury-prevention advice, legal advice, or professional advice of any kind.
  2. 7.2Users must rely on qualified professionals for coaching, medical supervision, health and safety decisions, and other professional guidance.
  3. 7.3The Service must not be relied upon as the sole basis for injury prevention, return-to-play decisions, training load management, medical screening, or other health- or safety-related decisions.
  4. 7.4The Service does not provide personalized coaching, coaching programs, training prescriptions, medical advice, rehabilitation advice, injury-prevention advice, legal advice, or professional advice of any kind.

8. User Responsibility

  1. 8.1Users remain fully responsible for how they interpret, weigh, and apply the outputs generated by the Service.
  2. 8.2Any training decisions, tactical choices, evaluative judgments, or physical actions undertaken on the basis of AI-generated outputs remain solely the responsibility of the user, the user’s coach, or the relevant sports organization.
  3. 8.3The Provider does not supervise or control athletic training, competition conduct, or real-world user decisions.
  4. 8.4AI-generated outputs must not be used as an automated, sole, or determinative basis to classify, categorize, rank, select, exclude, sanction, pressure, or make materially consequential decisions about an athlete. Human review must remain independent and must not convert metric-level or action-level outputs into person-level classifications.
  5. 8.5Outputs and processing capabilities must not be used for biometric identification, facial recognition, surveillance, inference of sensitive attributes, medical diagnosis, assessment of health or safety, person-level classification, or automated, sole, or determinative decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects.

9. Use of Reports with an External AI Service

  1. 9.1Users may copy their own FencingMonitor report into an external AI service of their choice for broader discussion.
  2. 9.2The external service and its responses are independent of FencingMonitor. External responses are not FencingMonitor outputs and are not controlled, reviewed, or approved by FencingMonitor.
  3. 9.3Users remain responsible for the external service selected, the data transmitted, and compliance with that service’s terms and privacy practices. Personal data, information about minors, confidential material, or third-party content must not be disclosed without the required authority and lawful basis.
  4. 9.4Use of an external AI service does not convert a FencingMonitor report or an external response into medical, coaching, tactical, legal, safety, refereeing, or other guaranteed professional advice.

10. AI Processing and One-Time Pack Service Logic

  1. 10.1The Service provides AI processing through one-time video-analysis packs and included AI explanation request allowances, according to the active product configuration.
  2. 10.2Each purchased video includes up to 60 AI explanation requests, unless a different allowance is expressly stated in the selected product pack.
  3. 10.3AI explanation requests may include report explanations, follow-up answers, progress-related views, versus or comparative views, alternative explanations, or regenerated AI interpretations. FencingMonitor reports and explanations are generated in English.
  4. 10.4FencingMonitor does not provide unlimited AI interaction, unlimited regeneration, or open-ended access to a general AI assistant.
  5. 10.5Progress or longitudinal AI explanations require at least 5 eligible videos.
  6. 10.6When a user initiates AI processing, computational resources may be allocated, automated processing may begin, and analytical outputs may be generated in accordance with the service workflow actually implemented by the platform.
  7. 10.7The legal consequences of AI-processing initiation, request consumption, Video Analysis consumption, service execution, justified technical refusal, interrupted execution, failed execution, refundability, and withdrawal consequences are governed by the Terms and Conditions, the Refund Policy, the Service Scope and Limitations document, and the service workflow actually implemented by the platform.
  8. 10.8AI explanation requests are usage limits attached to the purchased Service. They are service entitlements with no independent monetary value and are not separately transferable monetary units.

11. No Guarantee of Accuracy, Completeness, or Suitability

  1. 11.1The Provider makes no guarantee that AI-generated outputs are accurate, complete, consistent, neutral, objective, error-free, or suitable for a specific purpose selected by the user.
  2. 11.2The Service is provided “as is,” and users acknowledge that AI-generated outputs may contain uncertainty, inconsistency, ambiguity, or errors inherent in computational analysis systems.
  3. 11.3Nothing in this Disclaimer should be interpreted as promising reliability, neutrality, objectivity, human-equivalent judgment, or guaranteed usefulness.
  4. 11.4The Provider does not guarantee technical correction, performance improvement, competition results, ranking improvement, injury prevention, safe training outcomes, or compatibility with any specific coach’s methodology.

12. Liability Interface

  1. 12.1This AI Disclaimer explains important limitations of AI-generated outputs and the risks inherent in relying on automated analytical interpretations.
  2. 12.2Any limitation or exclusion of liability applicable to the Service is governed primarily by the Terms and Conditions and any other specialized legal document assigned to that subject matter.
  3. 12.3Nothing in this AI Disclaimer creates a broader warranty, remedy, refund right, or liability regime than the one actually established in the Terms and Conditions, the Refund Policy, and mandatory law.
  4. 12.4Disagreement with an AI-generated output does not by itself establish malfunction, non-conformity, refund entitlement, or liability.
  5. 12.5Reaching, using, or exhausting the included AI explanation request allowance does not by itself establish malfunction, non-conformity, refund entitlement, or liability.
  6. 12.6Nothing in this AI Disclaimer excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.

13. Changes to This Disclaimer

  1. 13.1The Provider may update this AI Disclaimer periodically to reflect technological, operational, product, vendor-related, or legal developments.
  2. 13.2Where required by law, users will be informed of material changes.
  3. 13.3Continued use of the Service after updates take effect may constitute acceptance of the updated version to the extent permitted by applicable law.
